ANNOUNCEMENT

MAINE WING 2019 SUMMER EMERGENCY SERVICES  ACADEMY

In conjunction with the Maine Wing Encampment 2019, Capt. Scott Higgins will be providing training that will facilitate the accomplishment of a Ground Team 3 rating for cadets who qualify as Advanced Students and senior members. The ES Academy will run in conjunction with the Maine Wing Encampment 2019, from August 8 to August 17, 2019.

Those cadets seeking adventure and a challenge and who qualify as advanced students may apply to the Maine Wing Encampment 2019 to participate in the ES Academy.  Cadets from outside of the Maine Wing are welcome to apply, provided they obtain permission from their Wing Commander to do so (see the CAPF 31).

Registrations for the Maine Wing Encampment will open on March 1, 2019.

To register, Student Cadre, Advanced Students and Students will need to submit the

following forms: CAPF 60-80, CAPF 31, CAPF 160, CAPF 161 and CAPF 163 and a fee of $165.00.

Forms can be downloaded at the following web address: https://www.gocivilairpatrol.com/members/publications/forms

Registration forms need to be completed and mailed to:

CAP Maine Wing HQ,

Encampment, P.O. Box 5006,

 Augusta, ME 04333-5006,

no later than June 30, 2019.  The fee must be paid in full with the registration paperwork. Checks should be made out to Civil Air Patrol

Senior members should register using CAPF 17, CAPF 160 and CAPF 161.

Cadets who seek admission must have already graduated from an encampment program.  Other requirements include the typical uniform items expected of encampment cadets, being able to attend with equipment required by ES ground team rules and the physical ability to withstand the rigors of a busy training schedule which will include several days and nights in the field preforming requirements of the GT3 curriculum. Classroom practical instruction will also be demanding. Only those who are up to the challenge should apply.

In order to complete GT3 requirements, participants must also complete standard NEMA courses: IS 100, IS 700 and obtain first aid and CPR certificates.  These courses will not be provided at the ES Academy and must be completed either prior to, or after completion of the ES Academy.

For those accepted to the training, packing lists and other important information will be provided upon acceptance.
